Serendipities:
Check out Serendipities page for more info on this specific type of colorway.
Repeatability:
Some colorways are repeatable, but others, not so much. You can find out which colorways are one of a kind and which can be repeated by reading the chart under the description tab in each colorways listing.
Dye Batch:
Every skein of yarn listed on Amanda-knits.com is hand-dyed often in small batches. This means it can be in groups of two or more. However, this does not make each skein identical even within the same dye batch. In fact, no two skeins of yarn will ever be identical. I do my best to ensure that each skein in a batch is as close as possible to one another. Skeins dyed in the same dye pot will be the closest match but you may notice slight color variations. For this reason, we recommend you order enough yarn for your project to ensure the closest color match.
Pre-order and Dyed to order:
Due to the nature of these type of orders, yarn shown in the listing will most likely not be the exact yarn you receive. It will be the exact colorway but slight color variations are to be expected. Listing photos are often of the first batch for repeatable colorways and therefore do not fully represent subsequent repeat batches.
Bleeding:
Bleeding is when the dye runs while washing and turning your water a different color. Please understand that this is something that may occur. While I rinse yarn until the water runs clear, there are many reasons bleeding may occur. My water and your water most likely have different PH levels, also water temperature and soap used can be a reason for the bleeding.
Crocking:
Crocking is something that may occur in dark or highly pigmented colors. This is when the yarn is rubbing against your skin and the color comes off on your skin. Know this is common in certain colors. It’s best to avoid lotions and oils on your hands when using such pigmented colors.
Pets & Smoke:
We say no to smoking and furry pets near our dyeing station and yarn inventory. Not to mention we don’t smoke here. However, we do have a ball python and a cute puppy. So, first, if you find scales in your yarn, then we, my friend, have a problem. On a serious note, in the rare instance that you find her in your package, please ship her back. We miss her.
In all seriousness. Smiles is very rarely near my yarn and when she is, she is not shedding. I would never send out yarn with snake scales… Unless you want them? Maybe you do resin work. LOL
Storm is my Tibetan Mastiff. She is my Emotional Support Animal in training. I have really bad anxiety and while there is so much stress is training a puppy, she makes me so much less anxious. She does shed but very little and only had one big shed during the year. While Storm is a puppy and things my yarn is a toy, all my shop inventory is stored in plastic containers away from the pets.
